Leopards and Elephants

Six days across the southern parks, at the hours the animals actually move

Yala for leopards, Udawalawe for elephants and Bundala for birds, built around dawn and dusk drives rather than convenient ones. Sightings are never guaranteed and we will not pretend otherwise, but the timing gives you the best chance there is.

Day by day

  1. Day 1

    Colombo to Udawalawe

South on the expressway, arriving for an afternoon drive among the herds along the tank.

  2. Day 2

    Udawalawe

A full day in the park, with the elephant transit home in the afternoon.

  3. Day 3

    To Yala

The coast road east, arriving in time to settle before an early start.

  4. Day 4

    Yala

Dawn and late-afternoon drives in Block One, resting through the heat between them.

  5. Day 5

    Yala and Bundala

A final morning in Yala, then Bundala for flamingos and waders in the afternoon light.

  6. Day 6

    Return

The drive back along the south coast, with time at Galle Fort if the flight allows.
